October 2nd features the second year of the Livestrong Army’s Tour De Barbecue. Lots of activities around this cool event: ride, food, live music. AND the following week the same folks bring cyclocross to Shawnee Mission Park for the ‘Cross Out Cancer race.  

The recent KCOI/Boulevard Women’s cyclocross clinic at Herman Larid Park suffered with some nasty rainy weather. Wednesday 9/29 offers another chance to get some basic (and advanced) education in ‘cross skills. Join us at Epic Bike and Sport 6PM for fun, practice and refreshments afterwards. Thursday Sept. 30th, join the Northland ride from the airport Embassy Suites at 8:00 am. The ride will head to Dearborn with a Specialized stop at Camden Point for the unveiling of a “Fixit” station.  These courtesy repair stations are the work of Platte County and Epic Bike and Sport . The weekend of October 2nd and 3rd gives us back to back days of Boss Cross Cyclocross. The longest running series in the KC Metro moves to E. H. Young Park in Riverside. Here are the results from the Swope Park season opener for the 2010 cyclocross season.

We’re counting down the hours until Sunday’s fresh new cyclocross event: Manion’s ‘Cross. The folks from Volker are offering a veritable feast including waffles, coffee, tacos and beer plus a big course that includes at trip the barn (like the Belgian beer tents?). Race this one or watch…it will be a blast.

The iconic charity ride for the Kansas City area, The MS 150 heads out of town this weekend. You can still register the morning of (Saturday Sept. 25th) at the start: INFO here.

The League of American Bicyclists has a program to recognize business folks that contribute to a better bicycle environment. Of course bicycle shops are already in the loop, but local shop Family Bicycles has put in a bit of extra effort AND been awarded Silver Status. The cyclocross opener at Swope Park dodged the foul weather bullet that mucked up the across state Hermann ‘Cross events.
