The Localcycling.com news team did a recent recon of the new Shawnee Riverfront Cyclocross Park. The hard working designer (and mower and flagger), Burnsey, was at the venue doing some grooming and reroute.
This is an outstanding venue to play/train AND has City of Shawnee blessing (the same folks that help host Boulvevard Cup, Colavita Cup, Grote Prijs Shawnee, ‘Cross Off The Old Year and last year’s RadCross races).
We would strongly encourage everyone in the local CX scene to utilize this great tool. There are Monday Night organized events, but most of the time it’s open for show-n-go. Lots of turf turns that resemble what you’ll find every weekend, some barriers, a nice steep downhill into the woods, some single track (think small races in Belgium, not everything is World Cup width), and a fresh new spiral.
Do read the section about how to avoid flats. If you follow the rules, there won’t be an issue.
