Mini-editorial: This is a fine event that should find a way to increase participation. It has a number of positives, primarily being tied to the Octoginta weekend of cycling activity. But, the race needs a venue closer to the larger cycling population (KC) and probably a less challenging course. Many of the riders that have invested in TT specialty bikes tend to find them suited for flatter tracks. Cyclocross is running full steam by the first of October, and shares many of the same athletes, particularly Masters that show up at time trials. Make the event closer to home, and they’ll come out and play.
