No “Strong Ale” For CX

Another crazy rule change. This one goes in effect immediatly and has local teams and sponsors scrambling:

No more “Belgian Style” strong ales at any cyclocross events in the US. While the UCI has introduced a bunch of new technical rules, this one is purely USAC. It’s complicated, but the intent is to end the “Europianization” of American Cyclocross.

While beer tents can still  be found at large events, they must serve only lagers and pilsners, made in traditional weak American methods. Just like the UCI stickers bicycles, these beers will have a “USAC approved” branding on the cans.

Currently compliant: Keystone, Keystone Light, Coors and all Budweiser specific branded product.
