With the recent ‘time change’ our after work daylight is gone. Don’t fret, it doesn’t mean that it’s all ‘indoor trainer’ time if you love cyclocross.
Wednesday Nights at Herman Laird Park in Shawnee, you can meet up for a show-n-go CX practice and mock race. There are usually cones marking a short training course, most warmup between 6 and 6:30, then a race simulation for about 20 minutes just before 7PM. The tennis court lights can be turned on (via a control box next to the courts) and illuminate most of the park. You should supplement with a red taillight (and more if your night vision isn’t so great). It will be a light turnout on 11/7, the hosts may not have cones out, because they’ll likely be racing this:
11/7 Riverfront CX Championship We at localcycling.com encourage you to hit this one. Lots of hard work and love has been put into this project. Race starts at 7PM and it’s FREE. You will need lights. UPDATE: RESULTS
11/10 Grand Prix HPT in Topeka. One of the most unique venues in our area. Well put on event, part of Series60CX. Some very good video of the race by Keith Walberg!
