More Weekend Events UPDATED 4/17

It’s a little to the South of the metro, but it’s another great offroad opportunity:

“Up date 04/15/09 Le Tour de Tick MTB Race April 19th, 2009

Trail conditions as of 4/14/09 are very good. Even with all the rain
from Sunday, the course drains very well and we had only a few wet spots
by Tuesday night. We expect 30% chance of scattered showers Friday and
maybe Saturday.

Swag; great stuff from folks such as: Bicycle Specialists, Kuat, Hammer
Nutrition, Genuine Innovations, Grabber Warmers, Sock Guy and Boulevard
Brewery.

Course is already rough marked with ground arrows.

Primitive Camping is available at the main parking/ pavilion area.

Swag includes a Trek 820 from Bicycle Specialists and an Alpha Rack from
Kuat Racks.

AND another fun event:

“The Wheels Can Take Me Places Project, sponsored by the Missouri Dept. of Natural Resources- Div. of State Parks and the Urban Kansas City Community of Cycling, invites it’s supporters and area cyclists to come out to the Car Free Weekend at Cliff Drive Park this Saturday, April 18th, to meet and ride with the 22 courageous 7th grade students of Scuola Vita Nouva, who are preparing themselves for the 225 mile Katy Trail Ride in June, in their first ever Saturday Group ride. These same students, on Monday, April 20th, will be participating and riding in the Missouri Bicycle Federation’s Katy Trail Ride with Legislators, in Jefferson City.
Thanks to donations and support from around the country, these youth have acquired cycling equipment from the Urban KC Community of Cycling and their new bicycles, thanks to support from KC’s own River Market Cyclery, and have been working on their riding/safety skills and are ready to move beyond the confines of the school parking lot to venture out further, taking advantage of the KC Parks & Recreation’s excellent Car Free Weekend program.  Here is Kansas City’s chance to let these kids know that it supports them. This is also a great opportunity for those interested in volunteering with the program to sign up with the Div. of State Parks.
The group will be pulling out from the Scuola Vita Nouva parking lot, located at 544 Wabash, KCMO, 64124 between 9-9:15 am, heading for Cliff Drive Park and will be riding throughout the park until 11 am, returning to the the school. Come on out and support KC’s newest group of cyclists and some of the nicest kids you will ever meet. “
