The KCA will cover dinner and a drink (no booze, buy your own) for one representative of each attending club. Additional persons may purchase their own meal. Ordering will be done off the menu. Because the KCA will be writing a single check for the evening please bring some cash or a check (no cards) to reimburse the KCA for your meal. Sandwiches are $8-$10 with entrees in the $13-$15 range.

This meeting is open to all Kansas USAC licensees but is primarily for club presidents to elect members to the KCA Board of Directors and determine the 2010 racing calendar. Anyone can attend but club presidents are the only ones with an official “voice” (vote) in the running of the KCA. Licensees interested in learning how the KCA operates or becoming active are welcome to sit in on the meeting.

Meeting agenda items include… Treasurer’s Report, Minutes of last meeting, Omnium winners announced, 2010 State Chamionship discussion, 2010 Omnium/Kansas Cup, KCA Rider Surcharge, Chip Timing, Officials Coordinator, Race Permitting Guideline.

Election – Each racing club in good standing is allotted one vote. A club president is the authorized voter but they may designate a proxy to vote in their place or vote electronically by notifying me in advance. A club in good standing means they meet three requirements…
1) Promote at least one race within the previous race season prior to a KCA vote.
2) Attending KCA regularly scheduled meetings, send a designee, or decline in advance.
3) Not have any outstanding USA Cycling/KCA fees at time of voting.

Any USAC licensee from Kansas (not just club presidents) in good standing may serve on the board. In order to be added to the ballot a club president must nominate a candidate. If you want to serve have your club president contact me with your nomination. Questions about BOD duties should be directed to me. BOD members must be able to travel to meetings and be willing to take on thankless tasks. A thick skin and the patience of Job is mandatory.

Three of five BOD spots are up for election to a two year term. The top three vote getters from the upcoming election will take those spots. The other two BOD seats (currently held by Bill Anderson and Jeff Lively) will be up for election next year. Following the election the five BOD members will elect among themselves the various positions (Pres, Sec & Treasurer with two members serving as members at large.)

Jef Bishop and Roger Lomshek are stepping down from the BOD while Sherri Hahn is running for re-election. Jef has served as secretary and upgrade coordinator while I’ve been catching tomatoes and eggs on the throne.

Steve Songer from 360 Racing is running for election leaving an opening for at least one more member. Contact me with nominations for the BOD election. More than three may run with the highest vote getters taking the seats.

Race Calendar – Anyone wanting to promote a race in KS must send me their planned dates before the meeting and attend the meeting. Any scheduling disputes will be settled at the meeting. If you are a new promoter check the 2009 schedule for an idea of open dates; most races tend to stay on “their” weekend. Established races get priority in keeping “their” date.

State Championships/Omnium – If you have ideas to improve the State races bring them to the meeting. If you haven’t done it yet take the survey.

Officials Cordinator – Amy Whittaker has handled this job for years and is stepping down. The job is primarily ensuring promoters have officials assigned to their races and coordinating training of officials. The ideal candidate will be very personable and calm with at least a few years experience officiating; obsessive organization is almost mandatory.

See you there,

Roger Lomshek
KCA president
