Some info from the folks putting on The 2010 Kansas State Cyclocross Championships”
“Alright all you ‘Cross Nuts it’s time to get crackin’! One of the races you have been peaking for all year takes place Sunday December 5th 2010 at Hummer Sports Park Topeka, KS.. The Capital Cup will also serve as Round #5 (don’t forget your number) of the Series 60 CX. Well known to many local racers, the course will consist of mainly grass (that power sapping Zoysia stuff), some pavement, and of course the dreaded “Mound of Mercy.” Course length is 3.3 km with a 300m start/finish straight, two run-ups and lots of cyclocross type obstacles to test your skills. Course will open at 9:30 AM for pre-riding as racing starts at 11:00 AM. Registration will be indoors in the beautiful heated Capital Federal Natatorium atrium, with hot beverages provided by PT’s Coffee. Hot showers are available for post race clean-up. New this year will be the Batteries Plus Most Aggressive Rider in the Men’s 1/2 Race, earning a battery charger for ‘charging’ through the field! State Championship Medals awarded to the top three finishers in Juniors’ Age Groups, Masters five year age groups, and Men’s and Women’s category races. Over $1500.00 in cash and prizes is on offer based on the Series 60 CX format! As always we would like to thank our great sponsors: Hummer Sports Park, St. Francis Health Center, CoreFirst Bank and Trust, Mr. Goodcents, Waste Management, Capp’s Bike Shop, TFM Comm. Inc., Wendy’s, LocalCycling.com, PT’s Coffee, and Batteries Plus.
Don’t forget to stick around for the Post Race Party at Los Charros Mexican Restaurant in the Gage Center, (4111 SW Gage Center Drive) for great food and drink. So remember, December 5th, Topeka, KS.
