The cycling community has lost a well loved member, our friend Joel Dyke.
Joel was involved in so many formative aspects of the local scene it is hard to catalog.
Early on a roadie (but always willing to travel outside the lines), mountain biking with drop bars, helping stake and tape cyclocross races when those events were quite rare. Riding gravel well before it’s new found popularity.
Joel was part of the crew that brought the 2000 USCF Cyclocross National Championship to Overland Park.
He had an absolute passion for commuting by bicycle in the worst of weather.
He leaves behind a growing family that he adored. He leaves behind many, many friends.
The “Big Grin” will be missed.
Here’s the link to a website honoring Joel and helping his family.
