Trek Bicycle Store of Kansas City and the City of Shawnee, Kansas
present an all new cyclocross venue for a January 8th, 2006 race.
Herman Laird Park (next to Old Shawnee Town) in the heart of downtown
Shawnee will feature a real Belgian flavored race with possible epic
weather conditions. The course design will feature lots of twists,
challenging runs and fast pavement. Some of the areas top Masters
riders will use this event as a tune-up before heading off to Mol,
Belgium for the UCI World’s Masters Cyclcross Championships.
The village setting will allow spectators to easily view the
entire course. The event will also utilize Old Shawnee’s heated Town
Hall to register riders and host the post race party. Beer provided by
local Boulevard Brewery will help keep the spectators enthusiastic.
Expect lots of ringing cowbells to cheer on the riders
in the likely frigid conditions.

Shawnee is the sister city of Pittem, Belgium
and this will definitely be Belgian style cyclocross. A packet pickup
will be held on Saturday January 7th at Trek Bicycle Store of Kansas
