Cycling on gravel. It’s a phenomenon that’s both very new (and very old). The modern renaissance of ‘B’ road racing and touring can be traced in a very large part to riders and events in the Flint Hills of Kansas.
There is so much momentum and enthusiasm for riding gravel that the diversity of events across the country and in the KC region are hard to catalog.
We’d like to give a shout out to our friend Roger Williams and his “The Gravelleur’s Rides” Facebook page. Roger is a top competitor as well as an advocate. You’ll find plenty of race and event reports as well as links to upcoming events; some large, some small, some eclectic.
His mission statement on the page, “As a life long athlete I have found cycling as my therapy and want to share it,” rings true as a healthy definition of ‘the Spirit of Gravel.’
