With the season in full swing now I have been full-on lately racing and trying to work in a little rest when I can. After Athens/Roswell we went down to Alabama to race the Sunny King Crit where I took fourth – again. It’s nice to be so consistent and rack up some good NRC points for myself and the team but at some point it is enough with the podium already – I want to win! With that thought in mind seven of us headed down to Joe Martin last weekend with hopes of a top ten overall and maybe a stage win. The team performed well on friday with four of our gc girls in the lead bunch. The next day’s road race saw a fast and furious field sprint where I took – you guessed it – fourth. I guess I can’t complain with 80 women starting and the likes of Tina Pic and Kate Bates the only ones getting the best of me but
I will anyway! The girls did great in the uphill tt and set up kristin for a top ten overall. the crit was crazy with some of our girls getting caught behind a crash and the rest of us hanging in with the lead group of around 20. Krisitn pulled off a seventh place for the stage and 11th overall. in a field that stellar, she should be very proud and the team as a whole worked well together and supported each other from start to finish. The team is currently racing at Tri-Peaks right now while i am here at home getting a few days of hard training in before I leave for a three week block of racing on the east coast on tuesday. I think we are sitting fifth overall right now going into today’s queen stage so……. we’ll see! thanks for reading and thanks to Jeff Williams and my husband for doing a great job supporting our entire team last weekend in arkansas. look for us at the Raleigh Twilight crit next friday night! kb
