Some sad news about a fellow rider:
“Dalton Eli Hawkins, 18, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away on April 24th, 2009 in
Lawrence, Kansas.
Dalton was born on August 13th, 1990, in Shawnee, Kansas, the beloved son of Shawn
and Rhonda Hawkins.
A 2008 Graduate of Shawnee Mission Northwest, Dalton was currently enrolled as an
honors student at the University of Kansas, majoring in pre-pharmacy. He was
recently named to the dean’s list and was a member of the Mount Oread Scholars.
Dalton lived in Ellsworth residence hall and was a member of Alpha Kappa Lambda
fraternity.
Dalton brought energy with him just by entering a room. He’ll be remembered as the
one with the biggest grin, the one always up for having fun. He was soft-spoken and
funny, collecting friends wherever he went. He was a competitive bowler, enjoyed
working outdoors, grew up playing sports and video games, dirt biking, and was an
avid cyclist with his father, Shawn.”
