Cyclocross News Shorts 10/16/12

Back to Epic.

Lots of things going on in the local cyclocross scene! New races are being added to the calendar while weekly practice/clinic opportunities continue.

RACES. Here’s a link the current Kansas Cycling Association calendar, but not everything is posted as of this writing.

In the works are events for the weekend of 11/24 and 11/25. The Sunday of that weekend will be a return of the Epic Holiday Cyclocross on the grounds of the renamed Village at Burlington Creek. The Epic Bike and Sport folks have hosted two prior races at the center;  After a hiatus, the venue will feature a similar course to earlier events, but will include new features (and some smoother terrain). Plenty of brick/faux cobbles for the roadies.

Saturday 11/24 will likely show off a completely fresh course in South Kansas City, hosted by Family Bicycles.

We also are confident that the currently vacant Dec 1st/2nd weekend will have local racing. Stay tuned.

CLINICS AND PRACTICES. Mondays at Elite Bicycles (site of the upcoming Boxing Day) AND the perma-course in Shawnee are open for riding.

Wednesdays at 6PM for the final two weeks of October Epic Bike and Sport offers mini-clinics for the newbies and a themed mock course for all.

Beginning November Wednesdays, Herman Laird Park will be free of kids football practice. Train under the lights with a mock race, warm up time begins about 6:30, hard stuff at 7PM

Swayze Memorial for the midtown folks. Sometimes more over the top in theme (but damn good for your skills), Also on Wednesdays.

And a shout out to a new cyclocross specific blog for the area (and abroad): Kansas City Cyclocross
