“As most in the cycling community have heard, Chris Smedley (owner of the Bicycle Shack) has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and will begin chemotherapy treatments very soon.
Chris enjoys cycling AND EATING.. So… You are invited to come show your support by joining the Bicycle Shack 101 Ride around Longview Lake at 7:45am and for more experienced riders the Casey’s Ride at 8:45am.
For those familiar with the Saturday M…orning Rides from the Longview Rec Center, both the 7:45am ride and the 8:45am rides will be EXACTLY AS THEY ALWAYS ARE. (details at bottom).
Afterwards we’ll will be meeting at one of the shelters (to be named later) for waffles.
All are welcome. We are suggesting a minimum $5.00 donation for breakfast. Coffee and soda will be available. Keep Rollin’ chriSStrong wristbands will also be available. Suggested donation is $5.00.
100% of the money will go to Chris for medical expenses that aren’t covered by insurance. Please take advantage of this opportunity to visit with Chris before he starts chemo.

We return to the Rec Center at 8:30am with 15 minute break before beginning the next ride.
8:45 is a 30 mile ride with many levels of riders. Going out to Casey’s in Raymore the group stays together most of the way at about 17mph avg. with the faster riders picking up the pace considerably as they approach Casey’s.
Many riders will stop at Casey’s but the racers recently have been riding straight through with an avg pace around 22-24mph.
