This weekend is a biggie for the local mountain scene. The Heartland folks bring on another edition of the Rapture In Misery 6/12 Hour event. Great fun to do or hang with the crews.

A moderately stiff North wind, but still some quite good times. Hamburgers and brats for an after party provided by the Blazing Saddle crew from Independence.  Click on the attachment for the results.

Wednesday 8/4 there’s a Town Hall meeting with the KCMO Mayor on bicycle and pedestrian issues. Thursday 8/5 offers another chance to tune up your time trial skills at Gardner Airoprt: NEET TT. Weekday rides of all sorts are always listed on the fine JCBC/KCBC combined calendar here.

A very very well groomed grass velodrome provided by Lawrence cycling enthusiast Steve Schwada made the hot temperature racing even hotter. The new venue was equiped with shelter from the sun (and the after party storm) thanks to Bill Anderson of Anderson rentals. Two events on the local calendar: State Track Race (Velodrome) for Saturday 7/24. Come watch this unique championship. There will be free beer. Sunflower Games Mountain Bike on Sunday 7/25. Good dirt.
