The Kansas Cycling Association released this information today regarding the 2007 season's championship events:
"This schedule of events represents a major change in the format of the Kansas State Championships. The separation of the Category and Age Group (Masters/Juniors) championships has several advantages.
1. Safety at the road race. This schedule will allow the promoter to have less groups on the road at a given time. This will reduce the chances that groups will overtake each other. See USCF rule 3A2.
2. Ability of masters eligible riders to compete for state championships in their category and in their age group. See USCF rules 6F2 and 6G2.
3. Less pressure on the race schedule at the Criterium. Distance requirements for the Criterium Championship will be easier to meet since less Category/Class combinations will race at an event.
