As riders approach the heart of the area cycling season, The Midwest Maxxis Cyclocross Series heads North for Jingle Cross. December 2nd and 3rd brings elite riders from around the country to tuneup for Nationals at the KLM UCI as well as the Missouri State Cyclocross Championship. The following weekend, December 10th, features the Kansas Cyclocross Champs in Leavenworth. Promoter Chris Locke has updated the flyer with expanded Masters categories and promises a fresh course. Some folks will travel to Nationals next, but if you're staying home you can still race near Wichita: Two days of racing at Lake Afton CX. A short holiday break, then the final scheduled event of the Maxxis Series (and the tuneup event for those heading to UCI Masters Worlds): The Grote Prijs Shawnee.
Wednesday night cyclocross training continues every Wednesday until January 10th. Meet at the Trek Bicycle Store of KC at 6:00 PM. If you're not heading to Iowa this weekend, a preview training race is being planned for this weekend. Details should be posted after Wednesdays training ride.
