Sublime. That’s the word for the ride quality of these tires.
Over the years we’ve used versions of the Corsa for racing and training, both the tubular and the open tubular (clincher version).
The secret to the sublime ride has always been Vittoria’s use of a high thread count cotton based casing. The current iteration is called Corespun K and is measured at 320 tpi.
The high thread count smooths out any tarmac surface, and with plenty of tire widths offered, you can choose volume appropriate to your roads. We’ve been riding both the 25mm and the 28mm.
Weights are 255g and 270g respectively. Vittoria has also continued to work on tread compound and design. The rubber gives plenty of cornering traction in both the dry and the wet. We’ve found that the tubed version can be tuned to a variety of pressures for optimal performance.
This is a performance tire, and won’t wear as long as Vittoria’s Rubino Pro (which is a very capable tire). And while puncture protection is not the main feature, our testers have found that more supple tires in general mean fewer pinch flats.
For those riding road tubeless, the Corsa has that option.
Best riding tire ever? We think so. Retails at $75.
