The riders of Team X Cycling headed to Fayetteville, Arkansas for the three stages of Joe Martin this past weekend. Commonly know in this part of the country as “Fayettenam” for the difficult mountainous terrain and steep, dangerous descents. The team had their hands full with National caliber competition, but handled the pressure quite well. David Hejduk has been riding well leading up to the weekend with two strong finishes in previous regional stage races. With confidence high, David tackled the mountains in true form. On Saturday during the Road Race David punctured with 5 miles to go but, managed to get a quick wheel change and place 10th in the field sprint. The big challenge for the weekend was the Devils Den Uphill Time Trial. A demanding 2.5 mile time trial with an average gradient of 6.8% is a killer of a climb! It is even tougher after a tough day in the saddle during the road race. David stormed the mountain with a winning time of 9 minutes and 54 seconds. This was the official stamp of authority for David’s walk to the top of the podium. David needed to finish in the field on stage three to close out the weekend. With a very challenging and hilly criterium David placed himself comfortably within the field finishing 6th place. With this victory Team X continues to show great for a busy month of regional racing. In addition to the Joe Martin Stage Race, Team X rider Phil Mann brought home a Silver Medal at the NCCA National Criterium Championships. Phil is a Senior at DePauw University and will be attending KU Medical School in the near future. Phil jumped into a five man breakaway early into the race which eventually stayed off the front. With a down hill, tailwind sprint it was going to be super fast. Out of the last turn Phil placed himself to take home a Silver Medal. It was a good weekend of racing for Team X Cycling!  On behalf of Team X Cycling we would like to thank each sponsor for their continued support.
