Road Situation 2013

Snow on the ground, but hopefully the last blast for the Kansas City metro.

Despite some challenging weather, the first road events of the season have been well attended and well raced. One more Spring Fling on 3/30 then it’s a very healthy calendar.

Beginnning 4/2, the Tuesday Night Worlds training crits return. A weekly opportunity for speed and tactics. Pair those with the Gardner monthly Time Trial and you’ve got some essential workouts taken care of.

If you’re Collegiate it’s multiple stages, but there’s a crit for most everyone at the Wildcat Grand Prix on 4/6 and 4/7

The hardest of local one day events, definitely a Spring classic, the Bazaar Road Race on 4/14. Practice your echelon skills before this one.

On the calendar 4/20 and 4/21 is a for real stage race: Velotek Grand Prix. A tough new race against the clock. The race is scored by time, not points, a rarity in our locale.

Another double event weekend on 4/27 and 4/28: Bruce Edwards Time Trial (page 2) and the Joseph Sheehan Road Race.

And the first bloc of spring road racing concludes with the Tallgrass Classic. Two days of racing that serve as Kansas Championship races for Masters and Juniors.

Complete the majority of these events, we can guarantee you’ll carry fitness into the summer!

Next up? Blancarte Time Trial starts the tune up for a full summer season. We’ll detail in upcoming posts.
