Re: TNW’s Postponed until Further Notice
On July 12th during the “a” training ride HSP staff were approached by an officer with the Lenexa Police. He informed us that we were no longer able to host the TNW’s at its current location without a permit and that all traffic laws need to be obeyed (this means coming to a complete stop at each of the two stop signs on the course).  He also informed us that they would begin issuing tickets to any riders that do not obey the traffic laws stating on Tuesday July 19, 2011.
With this being the case HSP has reached out to Lenexa. They will not issue a permit for the training series. One the roads cannot be shut down due to the way traffic enters and exits the area. Another is that they do not feel that the series participants would stop at both corner one and four stop signs each time the rider approached those corners / stop signs.
HSP has also reached out to the city of Shawnee for and alternate location to host TNW’s. This process is ongoing (HSP started these talks weeks ago. Planning for 2012) and at this point is moving at a slow pace. We will keep you up to date as we receive more information.
I know this comes as a surprise to many of you. The event has been going on for many, many years but has come under fire in the last couple years as the traffic and the size of the training rides have increased in size.
HSP is eager to find a solution to this problem and is working around the clock to try to get the TNW’s back on track for the remainder of the 2011 season.
