The promoters of Thursday’s ‘Cross Off the Old Year race at Stump Park put in a full day of grooming/snow removal. The City of Shawnee (co-sponsor of the event) brought out the heavy machinery to assist.
The 2.5 KM course will get some additional grooming tomorrow. A chance of snow means at minimum some more shovel work. Course designers Bryan Kidney and Mike Berning have indicated it would be helpful for riders to ‘preview’ the course, and help wear in the cleared areas on Wednesday. The localcycling.com news team notes that this winter style ‘cross has a different flavor and rhythm than the first part of the local season. Folks that raced in Bend or plan to someday show up on the start line in Tabor or Poprad should appreciate this difference.
Racers and spectators alike will be treated to unique cyclocross action, beer, gluehwein, and some homemade snacks provided by the Localcycling Team’s Supporters Club (bring a couple of bucks for the tip jar). But don’t miss this great New Year’s Eve Party.
Racing continues with two more Series60 races: Sunday January 3rd Epic Holiday Cyclocross and Sunday January 10th Grote Prijs Shawnee.
