Women’s Cycling On A Roll

In addition to the upcoming Women's Professional Criterium added to the opening day of this year's Tour of Missouri:

Sherri Hahn sends this: "The Kansas Cycling Association has received a $5,000 grant from NIKE to support women’s cycling.  The KCA will use the grant to reduce race entry fees and provide other financial support to area women competitive cyclists, particularly those in the 13-25 age range." Tour of Kansas City.  The KCA Women’s Development Fund will reimburse the entry fees for the 2008 Tour of Kansas City Cliff Drive Classic (August 9) and the Overland Park Grand Prix (August 10) for three women who race the junior race and three women who race the beginner women’s race.  The recipients will be chosen at random from the eligible racers shown on the official results.  More information on the Tour of Kansas City is at www.tourofkc.com.

 De Stad Van Kansas Cyclocross Series.  The KCA Women’s Development Fund is sponsoring the 2008 De Stad Van Kansas Cyclocross Series Women’s 4 Races.  This sponsorship will reduce the Women’s 4 race entry fees at all six races in the series.  More information on the series is at www.kansascitycross.com.

 Essay Contest.  The KCA Women’s Development Fund is sponsoring an essay contest for Kansas and Kansas City area women, ages 12 through 26, who are, or would like to be, competitive cyclists.  A total of $1,000 will be awarded to the winners of the essay contest.  Applications will be accepted until October 15, 2008.  The contest application will be posted on the Kansas Cycling Association sitel.
